I have fond memories living there, i stayed in Blk 21 which used to stand tall and by itself. Thus, the view from the window is really the view that people have to pay high price now in order to get it, far and unblock. Is a rental one room flat. And i remember the roads across the street and the 10mins walk to my pr school nearby with playgrounds & trees around which we used to picked up the red "xiang1 si1" beans to make "five stone". On sundays, all the bird lovers will hang their bird cages there to listen to the birds chipping away. There was also a narrow street which sell white gluttonous rice with black soya sauce which i could nvr find the taste anymore.
When zq's car turned into the street, the environment have changed, there is a high-rise condo and the flat, playground and those familiar roads are gone. Except an old 2-storey building and my pr school still there =) However, the school have already been renovated and converted into an India association. But i can still see some familiarity, the stage at the canteen and some building in the school and the field behind still stay. I am real excited and recall all the corners around the neigbourhood i can identified to zq. Is foreign to him but the the fond memories of the old neighbourhood stay closed to my heart.
Below are some photos taken with my nokia hp (hmm..pics still nt bad)
Old street name still there.
This old building across the road from my old flat is still there...maybe the govt wans to keep it for is unique value.
The road i used to take to my pr school. Other than the school and this road, the rest are replaced by a condo.
The area in front of the school which we used to assemble early in the morning to sing the school song. The building (though repainted) and the shelter still remains after 30 years :)
The school canteen's stage still there! This is where i bought my 50cents mee foon and 20cents fish cake during lunchtime.
Another old building. The main street in front leads to sim lim sq in front.
